Why does Pershing RD Smell?

From The People’s Town Hall of Cicero: The odors are hydrogen sulfide from the MWRDG Stickney Plant wastewater plant. On April 4th 2021 and this past weekend, July 9th 2022 weekend, the Stickney wastewater facility was pumping from the deep portion of the tarp reservoir without turning on the hydrogen peroxide odor suppressor.

Once the Stickney Plant realized via complaints that were filed the hydrogen peroxide was not injecting they turned it on, and stopped pumping.

Cicero’s Community has a right to breathe clean air - even during a pandemic where COVID-19 is impacting our respiratory system. The EPA must protect the health of our community and our environment. If you smell something say something!
